Why do I need more than one visit?

“You didn’t get out of shape and unhealthy overnight, and you won’t get fit and healthy overnight.”
and “It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen.”

I read these recently, and immediately thought of all the people who say “Why do I have to keep going to the Chiropractor?”

Our health problems start when we are very young. Often when still in the uterus but more often during the birth process. We are dragged screaming and kicking into the world. Then we are picked up incorrectly, letting our head flop around on our tiny neck. Then we fall and tumble for years. And sports injuries, and poor posture, and carrying school bags incorrectly, and all the other insults we heap upon ourselves.
Then we start work. Then we start drinking and fall and tumble even more! And fights, and car accidents, and falls, etc.

Then one day it’s all too much – we sneeze! And our back “goes out”. Well, guess what? It’s the accumulation of all those things where our body has adapted and coped and finally it just can’t cope any more. And we expect it to be “cured” immediately if not sooner.

We need to deal with all the layers of injury. One by one. Adjustment by adjustment. And as we gradually remove all those levels of interference, not only does the immediate symptom go away but we start to feel better than we have for years. Because our body is finally working the way it was designed to do.

We recently moved, and I don’t have a chiropractor yet–shame on me! I just received a postcard from my former chiropractor 3 states away… When I read your posts, I realize that I’m dying to get back in there–something about using the computer really gives me back pains. Thanks for your great posts and gentle reminders!

It is helpfull for people like us which called blogger because we spent many hours a day by operating PC or Laptop. It can give us back pains like nicole said. Maybe, preventing those back pains by implementing ergonomic position, keep getting frequently body exercise as well as eating and drinking only the healthy food.
Thanks for this article.

It’s amazing how much good a chiropractor can do for someone! I had an adjustment done once that helped immediately with a breathing problem I was having. Everyone should include visits to the chiropractor in with their regularly scheduled health check ups.

Not only does it take time and you need more then one visit, you also have to keep it up. Due to a number of obligations I haven’t been to my chiropractor in 2 months and I can feel it. I try to go once a month, that seems to work well for me. Tomorrow I will call and make an appointment, that’s it, I’ve decided :)

My husband has been complaining about his back lately so for his birthday I booked an appointment with a local chiropractor. I think he was shocked when she suggested they book a series of appointments over the next month instead of just cracking some bone and getting everything back into shape with one session. I told him the same thing you said at the top there. The damage wasn’t done overnight and its not going to go away overnight either.
