Do you take anti-inflammatory drugs?
Do you take anti-inflammatory drugs?
Why?
Are you aware that they are not an analgesic (pain killer) as such? They are designed to reduce the inflammation process due to an injury or similar. Inflammation is swelling and redness, usually because the blood supply to an area has increased in an effort to deal with an irritant and to flush waste products. This inflammatory process only lasts for days – in rare cases a few weeks. Not for years. So how come people are taking them as regular medication?
Even arthritis, which is a chronic irritation of the joints, is not in fact an inflammation.
I know that they are now recommended for migraines and period pain. Makes no sense to me. Neither of these is an inflammation.
So, having given you some food for thought, let me give you some more. …
Side effects of anti-inflammatory drugs include nausea, indigestion, stomach ulcers, stomach bleeding, diar
rhoea, headache, dizziness , high blood pressure, etc, etc. This can’t be good, right?
And now – wait for it – they have been linked [link here] to an increase in the rate of dementia and cognitive decline (Alzheimer’s disease)!
So have a good think about the type of pain killers you are using. And make sure they are appropriate to the condition being treated. And talk to your Doctor of Chiropractic about a treatment program to help manage your arthritis.

I’m so glad to be reading this today. My husband takes anti-inflamatory drugs almost every day due to a herniated disk, lower back pain. At the advice of a friend and chiropractor we stopped that and will proceed with a more natural course of treatment. Thanks for the information.
